The years of marriage haven’t gotten easier—in fact this has been a pretty hard one—but they’ve gotten sweeter together. And the reality that love is a choice has only grown more powerfully true with each year of choosing again. May we keep learning to love the new person each of us is always becoming.

One perk of this traveling life is seeing friends all over the place and sometimes seeing the same friends in different places. I’ve spent the last two weekends with this one, from @IFGathering in Texas to @ThriveConference in California.
.
And if you don’t know @AnnieFDowns she is such a fantastic teacher and writer, super wise and super funny, such a powerful encourager to so many. Check our her latest book #RememberGod and her #ThatSoundsFunPodcast. And we used her devotional #100DaysToBrave during our school commute this Fall, so, so good!
.
And fun fact, she was my little sister Grace’s @egracea Bible study leader back in day in a Athens, GA. I love reminders like these of how God loves to weaves all our stories together. See you next weekend, Annie! #GodWink
Parenthood often feels kind of crushing, but this past week we totally crushed it! We made all these complicated appointments for one child and helped make homemade valentines with the other. This was all on top of the typical, multiple hours of homework and general #threenager drama. We were honestly feeling super proud and really good about ourselves.
.
Then by the end of the next day, we realized one child was actually sent to school with NO valentines and the other child with NO lunch. Cool job parents!
.
Lesson learned: DON’T take too much credit or too much blame for life’s ups and downs with kids, but DO take them in your arms and tell them “I love you”, “I’m proud of you”, “I’m sorry”, and take them to God, the parent that never forgets and always gives them just exactly what they need.
.

Any meaningful onstage moment is always preceded by lots of meaningful offstage moments. @IFGathering reminded me of the beauty of inter-generational community, how life-giving and yet how hard it is to find. I think these ladies have a 70 year spread between them, but they loved on me and encouraged me so well!
.
The incomparable @Jill.Briscoe can just pray over me and give me all her wisdom in that cute British accent any day. And @ChristyNockels, you and @NathanNockels raised Annie Rose up so lovely, what 12 year old reaches out and confidently prays over an older lady, like me. It was so, so precious!
.
Oh and it was all kinds of amazing to have such an incredible speaker host, @_SamTheVictor who also just happens to work as a neuro-ICU nurse. You’re hired, Sam!
.
Go find some people who can be bookends on either side of your life. It will help you understand your story and God’s story in new ways. And then make sure to be a bookend for someone else too! .
