Hey Friends (and I do mean friends)-

*This isn't a real posting, I just wanted to tell you a few things....

and I will do it in list form.

because I LOVE LISTS.

(they are so clear and concise and clean)

*

So, here we go...

Upcoming Speaking Engagements:

*I will speak at the MOPS group at Calvary Christian Church in the Palisades next Friday morning.  I will speak on cultivating contentment no matter your circumstance.  Whether a tired preschool mother or a stroke survivor, living in contentment makes a dramatic difference in your life.  Attitude and perspective are key to life satisfaction.

*

*Casa Colina Rehabilitation Center has selected Jay and me to be the honorees this year at their annual "Tribute to Courage" gala.  It will be a very special evening with Bonnie Hunt emceeing, and Gabby Gifford's husband, Mark Kelly, as the featured speaker for the evening.  It will be a life highlight for us and should be deeply moving to hear how Mark and Gabby (and Jay and Katherine) have survived brain injury.  The event is at a resort in Industry Hills (east of downtown, but not all the way to Pomona).

*

*On March 14th at 10am, Jay and I will speak together at Pepperdine University.  We will share about how we were living at Pepperdine when I had the stroke and how the Pepperdine community has so beautifully responded to us since my stroke.  Also, in the college student context, we usually encourage younger adults to live out their faith now, and to take action before they graduate and "start their lives".   We share that no one is promised another day of life (it will be particularly meaningful this time --- I almost died on their campus at age 26).

First, let's call a spade a spade.

This is a photo blog.

We didn't necessarily mean for it to be that, but it happened and I love it.  Jay is a talented photographer and I love showcasing his work through the story of our lives.  Many of you included notes in your Christmas Cards to me about how much you loved the photography in each post.  I agree.

Here are a few faves in the category of "Best Photography"*...

I will post my faves in other various categories (most meaningful, cutest, best celebrations, etc) in the next few postings.

Joyful Praises:

As this new year got off to a phenomenal start at Passion, I feel a refreshed awareness to pray without ceasing and ask others to do the same.  Above all, I feel led to celebrate all the answered prayers in my life.

To that end...

*NOTICE ANYTHING HERE?????  My eye has been this clear for 2 months now!  The new regimen (and all your ceaseless prayers) are working!

*

*I can now step on and off curbs again.  It may be automatic to you, but until recently, I have been completely unable to balance my weight well enough to navigate curbs in parking lots.  Now I can!

*

*My right hand is now able to hold food and bring it up my lips again.  I have been able to visualize exactly how to work this activity to get the food directly into my mouth.  It works 90% of the time.  (ok, 85%.)

*

*Jay now feels comfortable with me being alone in public with James (for very short periods of time, but still).  We get dropped off at my CBS bible study, and James and I walk to his kids class alone where I drop him off.  The first time this happened, I felt like I was doing something wrong, but now it is 2nd nature to me).  This independence is so healing and confidence-building.  I love it!

*THE ULTIMATE PRAISE......I AM STILL GETTING WELL!!!
