She was 26 years-old and her six-month-old baby James slept in the next room. After undergoing an emergency sixteen hour brain surgery, she was not expected to live or recover. By God's miraculous grace and with the help of her husband Jay, Katherine relearned to speak, swallow, walk, and care for her son. An excruciating yet beautiful road to recovery has led the Wolf family to their new normal, in which almost every moment of life is marked with the scars of that fateful April day in 2008. Now, six years later, she and Jay are stewarding their story of suffering, restoration, and Christ-centered hope with this broken world through their ministry Hope Heals.
Our circumstances have afforded us the great privilege of sharing our story with groups all across the country. Over the past six years, we have spoken at over 150 events, from intimate gatherings of twenty to conference halls of thousands. While our unique situation provides us a platform to address both secular and religious groups, our primary mission is to communicate the Gospel of Jesus through the lens of our story. We speak on a spectrum of topics, from coping with tragedy to marriage to parenting. While we certainly appreciate our digital platforms, nothing compares to connecting face-to-face!
Since the very first days following Katherine's stroke, blogging has served as an invaluable platform for her story to be told and Christ's hope to be spread. This digital forum has built our prayer team and connected us with countless individuals in need of encouragement themselves. Even after all these years, our narrative continues to unfold with each new day, so we continue to share the story. Our blog allows us to remember God's faithfulness in the past and to document our ongoing restoration. We invite you to take part in our journey as God daily pours hope over us and whisper truths to us.
Like the Israelites, we often forget the faithfulness God has shown us in the past. To combat this tendency, we surround ourselves with Ebenezers, or reminders of what He has done for us. In the Hope Heals Shop we offer an array of these Ebenezers. From hope-inspired artwork to T-shirts to sharable tokens, the Hope Heals Shop has something for people of all ages and stages. We invite you to collect these physical reminders of intangible hope for yourself and others. As Psalms 105:5 declares, let us "remember the wonders He has done!"
Hope Heals exists because of the faithful prayer support and generous monetary gifts of our wonderful advocates. We humbly encourage you to consider supporting Hope Heals through a one-time or monthly donation. We realize financial donations are not possible for everyone, so please be assured that your prayers are as valuable as any financial gifts! We are deeply grateful for and humbled by your involvement in Hope Heals.
